does anyone have inside info on whats going on?

Has the guy on here from Irish-Boxing done any interviews with him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,966 ✭✭✭Syferus

This is still the most galling episode in Irish boxing in some time. Perez properly managed and motivated would walk through all but the very top of the heavyweight division. Surely someone has to answer for why such a talented fighter's career has been an absolute non-event for years?

His career is a non event because he is a lasy so and so,he has gone through a good few managers since his arrival to Ireland and same story.

Does anybody know anything about Patrick Hamish Thomas?

He is listed as the manager/agent for all of the Cork based Cubans. Luis Garcia was another guy, lovely boxer looked to have a great future. The last time both him and Perez had fights was on the same night at the end of 2011 in the US

Alexei Collado is the other one, he fought on the 15th March this year in the US.

The biggest thing, far more than the opponent, is that he's getting on the undercard of the top HW in the world. It can only do good things for his prospects.

ive no idea, im just going by what ive heard on the boxing forums.

McCline said on twitter he took the coaching job with Perez

    https://twitter.com/BigtimeMcCline/status/303574541286899712

Garcia was probably the best of the 3 to be honest whenever I saw him in action

they are real mystery men in fairness, are they lacking in motivation?

Perez and Garcia in particular have been inactive for so long, are they just enjoying the comfy life in Ireland?

People say its hard to get them fights etc... but that can be no excuse as there are always keep busy fights.

They are both very inaccessible too, no twitter accounts for instance. I know its a trivial thing, but in this day and age promotion and being in the public eye is everything, they don't seem to want to promote themselves. Nor does their manager/promoter by the sounds of things

Would be 2 great signings for Eddie Hearn in fairness, nice additions to any Carl Froch card in the short term until they make their own mark on the world scene.

Whats Thomas's background in boxing do you know?

Is he a rich bloke looking to make a quick buck or what?

I've heard contrasting accounts of Perez, some say he is really frustrated and is actively seeking fights, but his promoter is a joke

Others say he is looking to get by on his natural talent should a big fight emerge, until it does hes happy out living the quiet life in ireland

well from what iv heard he was really frustrated a friend of mine was chatting to him months ago and perez said that none of the likes of fury, price etc wanted a piece of him and fights were falling through etc, also i think thomas brought world class sparring to his base and those guys went back telling others how dangerous perez which led to him being avoided,by all accounts he annihilated kevin johnson in sparring and a good few others

I do have to question this move in fairness, a good boxing promoter will know its important to remain visible, let him do all of his destroying on fight night. Even undercard fights in the UK, thats what gets you noticed

Fighting world class opponents in the gym is all well and good, but it can lead to you being avoided.

Fury and Price really have nothing to gain either by fighting him. Perez has a lower world ranking than both, so its no win really for Price or Fury.

I thinks the truth is somewhere in between Perez being lazy, and being avoided.

I was asking the same in relation to Thomas, I wonder what his history in boxing is?

Seems to be doing these guys more harm than anything staying with him

    Perez is 12 to 1???

I don't believe it, who's giving out those prices? I'll be away on holiday this summer if that's the case.

Perez won a unanimous points decision tonight! Didn't see the fight, but apparently he dominated and nearly got a stoppage several times.
