Can I get refund without sending back?

I ordered a poster from China. It was advertised as a real poster, although there were different size options. I ordered quite a large one. When it arrived, it wasn't a real poster, it was a cheap, fake laminated copy that had obviously been made on a home computer. It was so badly done that when they enlarged it to the size I wanted, the picture was no longer to scale, it was fuzzy and squashed and out of proportion. I emailed the seller and said that I wanted a refund. I explained that I didn't want to have to post it back though, as the postage would cost me the same amount as the poster. The seller refused my request. I know that you usually have to send the item back to get a refund but as the copy was fake do you think paypal might refund me anyway if I start a claim?

Paypal's standard policy is that you need to send it back at your cost; if you claim fake they will insist on certificate from owner of brand. I'd cut my costs and move on.
