Hi everybody: does anybody know where I might buy packets of just sunflower seeds for my feeder? My birds, blue tits, toss everything else out and so far I have only been able to find bags of mixed seed. There used to be a garden shop on Capel Street that had bags of just one type of nuts and seeds but this has closed down.

Also, I have a robin but he doesn't seem to eat anything. What would he like?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you want bulk go to Pet World in Sallynoggin, get black sunflower if you can, more kernal less husk.

Thanks. I'll check out Lidl and see if they still have bags of one type of seed. Sallynoggin is a bit out of the way for me, but thanks for the suggestion.

I can't swear to it, but I think Mr Midleton's on Mary St might have them. They're a very similar shop to the one on Capel St that closed, and have quite a good range of bird stuff. You could ring them and ask.

I buy kibbled sunflower seed online from www.birdfood.ie. They will deliver free if you spend 50 euro or more. The kibbled sunflower is in tiny pieces and I find it is better than the full sunflower seed with less waste.

Hi all, thanks for the replies. In the end I got what I wanted in the pet shop at 118 Capel Street. The man there has a mix that he sells but he also has bins with only sunflower seeds, peanuts and something else that I didn't buy. I think it was 6 euro for a 3 pound bag, anyway I got a load of sunflower seeds and peanuts for 12 euro :-) Also, the man was very pleasant to deal with, would recommend his shop.
