    Hi,

I am in my second year of B.Comm and i want to apply for the International Experience but I'm not sure where I want to go for it. the options are America, Hong Kong or locations in Europe such as Sweden, Netherlands, Austria and Belgium. Any recommendations or advice will be much appreciated.

    Thanks. :)

Hong Kong would be the best choice in my opinion, in fact I am going to study in the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology next year via my BIS study abroad programme, its standard of academia is unrivalled by all other partner Universities offered to NUIG students, in the QS world rankings it's placed at no. 33, and the best University in Asia, if you want something on your CV that stands out then that would certainly help in that. If I remember correctly its Business School is placed 10th in the world, so that would suit you down to the ground considering you're Commerce.

The problem I would see with that is that you may not be offered there (I don't know), and that HKUST have already sent out a few inventories and important information out regarding the visas and other essential stuff. That could signify that the applications are closed for HKUST.

I was also looking at the option of going to Sweden myself before the HKUST opportunity came about; Uppsala University, if I remember correctly? As far as I know it is a very good college that doesn't fair too badly in academics, it's quite high up in many ranking systems, considered the best in Sweden, one of the best in Europe and higher than Trinity in most of the world quality tables, it sounded great to me! But ultimately after some inquiry it turned out Uppsala University was not available for me as the programme I would be exchanged into was rather different from my own, therefore not a suitable option. Having said all that, I would've loved to have gone to Sweden, it's a beautiful, well run country.

I hope my input helped you in your choice somewhat. Good luck! :)

HKUST is a lovely campus too. Right beside the sea, though you can't swim in it because there are sharks...
