am wondering if i buy, lets say heifers and see an opportunity to sell and make a quick profit, can i do so? i take it for heifers you have to blood test them even if they are still in test from the original seller, or am i correct? and for bulls/bullocks can i just resell?
do i have to keep an animal a certain length before reselling? and is there a limit on how many quick sales of animals you can make in a year without having to get a dealer's licence?
just dont want to get on wrong side of the big bad department!

I know u dont need a dealers licience if u sell less than 100 cattle in the year, if u hold them and sell them within 30days.
If buying & selling hfrs as long as they are blood tested within 60 days sell away. Young hfrs under 18 mths dont need to be blooded. Bullocks can be bought and sold away as long as there within 12mths of TB.
BUT a word of warning theres feckall money out of tis craic, all u get is headaches & with the price of diesel plus commission. All u need is one sick animal or one animal to hurt themselves & ur dwn the swaney!

thanks for making that so clear! i know what you are saying about not making a whole lot money and i dont plan to go at it alot but as i said want to stay on right side of department! on a side note the first heifer i ever bought i got tricked big, was told it was only couple of months old but in fact it was over 6 months old, was a dwarf char x bb with bad lungs. fed her well and sent her to the factory with few of my own cattle, she by far left the most money and graded an e! hard to know what the right type is!
