Farm stay around Roscommon Town

We are a Dublin family with 2 small kids looking for somewhere nice to stay overnight near Roscommon town. Ideally a nice B&B on a working farm.

There are lots of ads for B&Bs but it is unclear if the kids could go and have a look at the cow shed, climb up on a tractor etc.

    Any suggestions?

Im not aware of any as well. To be honest theres not an awful lot to do in roscommon town especially with kids so you might be better of searching somewhere else

nothing like a nice wet, windy day in Salthill or Enniscrone...
fuel is expensive. the price to galway and back would pay for the cinema in Ros, bowling, or the indoor playground along with food.

why do people run down Roscommon town so much?

Hate to say it but its cos its a **** hole, nothing to do and no young people left here. For personal reasons I have to stay here but only for those I I'd have moved to Galway or mayo a long while ago,

So your a Roscommon man and live in the town and reakon there is nothing to do and want to live in Mayo or Galway... if you did move you'd be a small loss.. there are plenty of things to do in Roscommon town and its not a bad place to live.. granted we lost our A&E department but thats a whole other issue.. I'll give you a list of things to do in Roscommon town and its not too short either.. Every week in town there are the following
Roscommon Gaels Football and Hurling clubs
    Roscommon town soccer club
Darts teams and pool teams in a number of the pubs that are always looking for new members
    Fitness classes
Unislim classes... ya might be a bit on the heavy side from having nothing to do
    Yoga
Irish dancing classes.. Karate Club.. Stage School.. Drum Lessons.. Craft work... traditional music classes.. Drama club and a number of more..

Then theres the town park and outdoor gym... and playground... Rosbowl... Flix Cinema.. The Abbey Hotel gym and swimming pool.. theres also the other leisure center..
There are plenty of pubs and nice restaurants..

The town is kept in reasonable shape regards clean and tidy.. and its a safe place to live.. work and play..
Also it has a train station.. is on a national bus route.. has a reasonable taxi service.. close to Knock airport and two hours will make it to Dublin..

By the way iam not a Roscommon town man... Roscommon town is a typical town in Ireland no better or no worse.. and has the same problems..

Darts teams, pubs karate clubs and train stations are not the sort of attractions that childern are looking for when they go on holidays though. As for saying id be no loss theirs no need to get personal. You sound like the kind of fella what could do with leaving the county once in your life. Theirs not one decent place to eat in the county never mind the town, you should maybe to to galway and try a restaurant there and them come back and tell me there's lots if good restaurants here, are you counting supermacs in your list of good restaurants heh?

In the county - off hand some of those who have won awards.

Tarmonbarry : Keenans & Tarmonbarry have both won awards
    Kilronan Castle: Douglas Hyde Restaurants
    Roscommon Town: Gleesons
    all Bridgestone guide regulars..

In addition, The Abbey in Roscommon , The Yew Tree in Lecarrow , Jacksons Italian in Roscommon, The Old Fort in Shannonbridge, Hodson Bay Hotel in Kiltoom.

Athlone is 20 minutes from Roscommon town - loads of restaurants .
On the "Roscommon side " alone - Di Bella, Kin khao. pavarottis, Al Mezza.

Of course Galway has more restaurants - it has ten times the population of Roscommon town.

As regards children, Do you have a list of what kids can do in Galway that they cannot do in Roscommon

you both forgot the Arts centre

Sure you fellas will be listing the graveyard and the Mart as tourist attractions next. What does gaway have that we don't hey? Maybe the sea and aquarium and shops other than heatons and dunnes as a start.

So children like to go shopping ?

Really, your arguments are poorly made and a bit childish.
The argument about shops is a daft one also - to go shopping requires money

Besides this is getting off topic - The OP asked for a B&B near Roscommon - You basically posted to say you hadn t a clue........and proceeded to run down the entire county. Do you really live such a sad life in Roscommon that your only entertainment is from posting rubbish online?

And where did the original poster say that they dont have money you twit. You might not like what I say but I dont think its unreasonible for me to pint out tat there are nicer placed for a family brake. Im proud of where I come from but am not blind to its faults,

    It's quite obvious you're not.

Your certainly no advertisement for the education system in Roscommon.

And unable to make a simple point. You're flip flopping around without making a concrete argument about anything.

The point about shopping is one that you made - Nothing to do with the OP.

When you were pointing out nicer places why didn t you say that Galway is grand but Disneyland has so much more to offer or Dublin or London.
Your post was pointless and unhelpful.

Your entitled to your opinion but its obvious that its waffle and incorrect as I pointed out in reply to your "restaurants" comment. You obviously have very poor knowledge of Roscommon so perhaps you should refrain from commenting on it.

Your a clown, no point in trying to reason with you. Think you know more about roscommon than me, id love to know what makes you think tat. Twits like you make us a laughing stock.

Care to point out what point you've tried to reason with?
You made a ridiculous point about restaurants which was well and truly proved incorrect above.

If you don't like the place why live there? Pretty stupid living some place you hate. Its not as if Galway is'nt commutable - Loads commute to Galway to work so it shouldn t be a problem for you to move.

As regards what makes me think I know more about Roscommon? Well firstly, the restaurants argument and secondly, the fact that you posted here to say you didn't know - which in itself is quite pointless.
Im not aware of any as well.
