Saorview installation in apartment building

We have an apartment building here consisting of eight duplex houses. At once side of the building is a cluster of coaxial type cables hanging out which I can only assume was intended for the installation of a communal dish. Each of these cables goes back to each apartments' hot press which has four more cables hanging out (one for each room).
My question is; Can one antenna for saorview be mounted to the side of the building and all eight coax cables be connected into it? Is there a hub of some sort that can then be put in the hotpress to join up the four cables for each room outlet to the feed from the antenna?

I did ask the question to a local tv installer earlier this year and he insisted that the only way we can get tv is to mount a dish to our neighbour's balcony above us and subscribe to sky multi-room.

One aerial can be erected and a distribution amplifier fitted to supply the signal around the building, standard practice in hotels, nursing homes, etc.
Find another installer, the guy is on the make. ;)

    8 Units in all ?

This is what you are looking at. This is what you could do giving free to air satellite and saorview to each apartment/house (The items listed are not per apartment - they serve all)

Core (outside) This setup will feed all 8 apartments with 4 feeds of both Saorview and free to air satellite using the existing already cabled runs.

Might give you an idea of the basic unit costs.

At the apartment end, you would add a [http://www.aerialsuperstore.co.uk/indoor-vhf-uhf--satellite-if-diplexer-367-p.asp]splitter[/url] This would split the signal back out as satellite and saorview signals (about €2 each).

You should run at least two satellite feeds to a room. But Multiswitches can be expanded.

There are safety aspects for "multidwelling" installations, so a qualified installer needs to be used. The aerial and satellite distribution need earth bonded and earth wire to a suitable earth point designated by a qualified Electrician.

    Wouldn't a sat/terrestrial diplexer be a much better job?

Jeez. I don't know what I was thinking. Been so long since I had to do it!

A diplexer most certainly would be the split out end within the house itself.
