assessment exercise for interview

I've been called for an interview, but I've been told that the interview will be in two parts. The second part is the regular 'Q&A' that you'd expect for an interview, but all I've been told is that the first part is that it's "an assessment exercise of 30 minutes."

I've to email them back to confirm the interview, but I'm not sure if this is something that I should ask to be clarified or if it's all just part of the process? I've NO idea what to expect!

Should I ask for clarification so I can prepare as best I can?
Can somebody else tell me from experience what this might involve? (it's an administrative officer 3 job if that's any help...)

In this situation it makes sense to call them and clarify what the assessment exercise is. This way you may be able to glean more insight into it. It is perfectly reasonable to ask and learn about the best way to prepare for this.

Well done on getting to this stage.
