    Hi
How do you pay tax on dividends? Is it done as a capital gains tax, or is it different seeing as it's taxed at the income tax rate?
Have looked everywhere on the revenue site but can't see how you should actually pay it.
    Thanks

    Hi

You need to complete a tax return, either Form 11 or Form 12 and pay the amount owed less any Dividend Withholding Tax.

    Hope this helps

Thanks - how do I pay it? Is it paid to the collector general and is it included with other capital gains?

    Hi

If the tax is not significant and you are working as PAYE then it may be dealt with as an adjustment to your tax credits and is paid over that way.

Otherwise you pay a cheque to collector general when you file the return.

Capital gains are different and arise only when you sell the shares and make a gain. If you dont know the difference you should check with your accountant.
