Hey, so I live in city centre, therefore there is barely any free parking around. Gates into my underground parking for which I pay honestly every month is in a small alley, about a width of 2 small cars (usually if one comes from one side, and other from other side, one will reverse out and let other one in as two cars can barely squeeze through.

Opposite to my gates there is a building site entrance gate. I am getting sick and tired of this construction now honestly, mostly because:

In mornings builders been putting huge construction truck in that alley blocking gates fully for hour or two, and on my way back home in evening they have ti parked there for an hour or two. It's total bull****, so basically I have choice: either go pay for parking and go home. Loop around city to spend time, or sit in car for 2 hours somewhere.
That bull**** is unfair, as in i pay for something that I am restricted access to.

Is there anything I can do? I mean can't I get some kind of exemption for street parking so I can park there for free?

It's illegal to block vehicular access to or from any property.

Speak to the foreman of the site and if he doesn't sort it, make a complaint to the Gardai.

by the way, sometimes they leave small gap for pedestrians and encourage people on small cars (like mine) to squeeze through. If my tyre would get punctured while driving up the kerb, would they be obligated to compensate that?

Yup, see what the driver/foreman says and if nothing happens, contact the guards.
How's a fire appliance/ ambulance meant to get passed?

op, you need to complain...one to whoever is employing the builders and two to your landlord, keep complaining every single day until its sorted out.

If ambulance or fireman would want to get through, there is absolutely no chance for them to squeeze through, my car is quite small (opel corsa hatchback) so sometimes they leave the gap.

Sit on the horn till they move, just because its a construction company doesn't give them any special rights to block access.

Same around my workplace, they try and get away with it as long as nobody complains.

No, it would be your decision to mount the kerb and if you damaged your tyre doing it then it would be your fault. If there's not enough room to get through without mounting the kerb then you do it at your own risk.

I'd go along with Seamus's advice, talk to the foreman or else Gardaí.

Go straight to the Gardai, site foreman clearly a muppet and not worth engaging if he doesn't know what's going on in and around his site.

Ah now, the Motor's forum can't be seen to be recommending the clampers! OP, just give the Gardai a should if there's no luck with the foreman.

I talked to one of the builders today, when I said I need car at 5 PM because instructor is coming and I cant really make him wait, they said they will be gone by 3 PM and that they are pretty much finished transporting machinery to the place so no huge trucks anymore, only during a day sometimes.
