wallpering over wallpaper

6 year ago when we moved into our house we were faced with horrible wallpaper. When we started to pull it off it basically started to pull the drywall with it so we stopped and decided just to paint over it instead. Now we'd like to repaint it. However there was always a edge visible because the wall paper had a border about 1/3 up the wall which is still there. Are we better to just put up new blank paper and paint over it? or just rip it all out and start over.

    Thanks

Preparation is crucial to a good finish. The best way to remove old wallpaper is to use a Steam wallpaper stripper. You can hire this from any good hire shop. Be careful when using this as it gets very hot and it could remove the plaster from the wall if held in the same place for a long time.
Be warned, however; this is a messy and time-consuming job, and you may prefer to employ someone to do this.
If you want to paint the walls after be sure to remove all the old glue or paist of the wall.

Thanks for the advice, so even though it's already painted over I wouldn't have any trouble removing the existing wallpaper? I'm afraid it's going to start pulling the drywall with it.

    Thanks
