In the last few weeks I went to view some 3 cars that were advertised in D.D. The decription of the car bears no relation to what I saw when I got there. On Sunday, I went to Newcastlewest to view a 1979 Mercedes 250, which needed slight bodywork on the wheel arches. It did drives well, and looks good underneath, but needs new front wings, O.S.R. Panel, upolstery in poor condition, plus the points that were pointed out on D.D. I.E. rear bumper, booth lid, rear lght, and ganerally needed at least E1000 + spent to make it saleable or useable. It is now advertised for E1400, which I think is still way over the top, AND he complains about timewasters!! Why cant advertisers put an honest describition of thier car and photos to highlight the bad points as well as the good points. If I had driven a longway to see this car, I would very annoyed. Why cant people be up front with thier dealings?:mad::mad:

what do you expect ? regardless of a classic or not, people just want to sell their bangers and will tell any amount of lies to do so...

frankly its a shame that some right out lie about the state of a car wasting both partys time and petrol but if your in the market for a minter is to be expected and budgeted for no ?

Normally the seller accuses the buyer of being the time waster, if there is even a mention of the word in anything I'm considering going to look at to buy, I put it to the seller that timewasting works both ways, and that I don't want my time wasted going to look at a car that isn't exactly as described in the ad.

If they try to back track at that point, you know they are lying in their discription.

It's a two way street though, i've had plenty of timewasters down looking at cars, agreed a price and then go to ground, never to be seen again.

What might seem to be a small repair to the seller could be a major job to a buyer.....its all down to skills and experience....

    +1

There is a lot of room for different perceptions here. One man's mint limo is another man's wreck :)

Best thing to do before travelling is asking lots of questions over the phone / get more pictures, etc.

Similar to my last 'sale' - she was 'on her way down' with 400 when I said I would start haggling at 600. Don't give a fig because it was her loss :p:p
