Is anyone thinking of doing this?

I got an email over the weekend
Thanks for registering with London Edinburgh London. We’re really pleased to bring you some more details about how you can take part next year.

Entries open on 5 January 2013, and you can enter online at londonedinburghlondon.com. Entry will cost £219 for which you get:

All food and drink at controls. At most controls this will mean soup, a choice of hot meals, puddings, tea, coffee and hot chocolate, as well as something to put in your back pocket.

All beds. Most controls will have plenty of beds and blankets for you to use. If you prefer to bring your own sleeping bag, there’ll be space for you.

Two free bag drops. These will be available at most major controls.

Showers and towels. These will be available at most controls, but not the smaller venues such as Traquair and Eskdalemuir.

Online rider tracking and support on the route. We’ll be posting arrival times live on the event website. We’ll also have moto crews patrolling the route

Commemorative medal, water bottle, route card wallet and validation with Audax UK and Les Randonneurs Mondiaux.

Entries will be limited to just 750 riders, and you do not need to qualify to enter.

For more information, please go to our website at londonedinburghlondon.com

We look forward to seeing you in 2013!

I think when I originally heard about this I thought it'd be a great event to do/aim for, then I read this report on the way to work this morning and it kinda sobered me and made me realise its a pretty big cycle, a 1400km in 116hrs big cycle.

Nothing much on the last boards thread for it .

So guess I was wondering did anyone do it, or plan to do it this time around?

I would imagine that it would be tough but not impossible to do this. You'd want to be doing a fairly decent weekly mileage already and slowly building up.

Audax Ireland (www.audaxireland.org) run a Super Randonneur series that would be good training. I would think that having at least a 600km event under your belt would be a minimum before attempting this.

Imagine it would sell out quickly. Read about it. Interested.
