    Hi there

I am getting married in Mount Wolsley in Carlow in 2014.
We are looking for a wedding photographer but not sure how we should decide as to who, value and what are the key things to look for...

To be honest I kno very little about photography, but would have though ideally it is best to use a photographer that knows the hotel and the local area, so no matter what the weather is on the day all bases will be covered. We have been to a couple of wedding fairs and also looked online, and it seems there are sooooo many photographers out there!
one chap we met at a fair, Thomas Sunderland, seemed very nice and reasonably priced when compared to others out there, and he also has done numerous weddings at Mount Wolsley so knows it very well.

Does anyone know Thomas and could recommend him?

Or does anyone recommend anyone else or what factors I should consider before deciding on a photographer?

    Many thanks in advance!

I'd say each and every photographer / wedding photographer is different.
According to Bride's and Grooms for which I had a chance to work, first they took price into consideration and then:

    - photographer's style (some people like posed photos, some others like photojournalistic / documentary style, finally there are some who like studio shots)

    - photographer's experience

    - variety of additional goodies offered by the photographer for free without hidden costs (albums, prints, cd's etc.).

Define your requirements and budget. I'm sure you'll find someone pretty quickly. Remember to sign proper contract.

I'm getting married there this year, give ger gibbons a call he's very good and does a lot in the mount. They have a sample book that he made up for them in the reception of the hotel, it has some snaps of different weddings in the hotel, we have him booked. Google gibbons photography to see some of his stuff
