computer suddenly slow and no internet

    Hi Folks,

    Sorry for an annoying question like this - would just drop laptop into a store to fix but I am out of the country for a while.

    Basically, for no particular reason, my laptop has started to act up. It turns on, everything looks perfect - but when I try and open anything it takes ages - and internet will not launch - chrome and IE... I'm plugged into a perfectly good internet connection via an ethernet cable.

    I started it in safe mode, ran a virus check and found nothing (virus software is free stuff so not sure how great it is ).

    Any ideas on what I could try ???
