Can't receive a Forth Mountain signal

    Location: South County Wexford.
A previous post of mine discussed the conflict on Chan 45 between Mt Leinstar and Preseli.
I am now onto a slightly related topic. Which is that I can only get Saorview on Chan 52 with horizontal orientation, the signal fades out in good weather. According to RTENL this is coming from Suir Valley, some 50 kms away, they say that I should tune to Forth Mountain on the same channel, this time with vertical orientation. However I cannot get any trace of a signal when I do this and I would be pretty close to "a line of sight" at a distance of maybe 7 or 8 kms. The RTENL map shows that I am in the Forth Mountain reception area.
I understand that Mt Leinster is changing to Chan 23 and I have asked RTENL via email if it will be doing this before the changeover date of the 24th, so I could check the availability of a Saorview signal from there. Does anyone out there have the answer to this simple query? Will they use Chan 23 before the changeover date - even on a trial basis?

They will start using ch. 23 for Saorview on the 24th 26th. They aren't going to switch off analogue TG4 until the 24th, except maybe in the dead of night. They more than likely have conducted tests already.

Channel 23 will be on from 1pm on OCT 26th.
Between the 24th of October and the 14th of November SAORVIEW will be transmitted on two separate channels (23 & 45) from Mount Leinster.

The SAORVIEW service will continue to be transmitted, on a temporary basis for 21 days, on its current temporary channel (45).
From 13:00 on the 26th October the SAORVIEW service will start to transmit on its new, and final, channel (23).

On the 14th November the SAORVIEW service will cease transmitting on channel 45.

This change will strengthen the SAORVIEW coverage in counties Wicklow, Wexford, Kildare, Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Laois, Offaly and Tipperary. In addition to strengthening SAORVIEW it will also decouple Mt. Leinster from a transmission site in Wales and by removing the associated signal interference issue allow homes in Wicklow and Wexford to fully avail of overspill Freeview services from Wales.

Only occasionally get reception from Forth Mountain despite being so close to it. Switched over full time to Mt Leinstar when they stopped blocking chann 45. I get good reception from there and from Preseli. Now happy as a pig ..........

    Thanks to all who contributed.

P.S. Got a Saorview approved AKURA box yesterday in Aldi, it covers all the Saorview and fFreeview channels and surprisingly it has picks up more freeview programmes than my Ariva combo box does. It also has full Red Button capabilities and a seven day EPG on Freevew. Might now set it up alongside a Freesat box that I have.
I still have to move the Akura programmes to a sensible order, this looks to be a bit awkward.
However, still as happy as that pig!
