There's a strong chance I could be talking outta my ass here, but am I right in saying that at night Day/Night ESB Meters can can send out a relay to a contact closure to switch on things like storage heaters?

I've a small contractor in my fuse board, can think of anything else it could be for?

Yes, they provide a dry contact to energise a contactor located in the consumers distribution board. This contactor would generally be used to supply storage heaters.

It could be used for lots of things, but the chances are it is for the storage heaters mentioned above.
