    Hi,

I need to replace the front left indicator lamp on my 2002 Nissan Almera to pass the NCT visual re-test.

Anybody know if someone (myself) with limited car repair knowledge but generally can work a screwdriver could replace it?

Or maybe recommend a good indie garage in the Dundrum area?

You need to change the lamp unit itself, i.e the glass is broken or something or you need to change the bulb?

According to the NCT report - Indicator / Tell tales mounting insecure (offside front) and the side lamps (nearside front) not working.

So I reckon it's a bulb for the side lamp and a possible replacement for the side lamp - it is loose but maybe it just needs to be secured?

Just realised the glass is cracked on the indicator but that doesn't seem to be marked on the sheet.

Well the sidelamp bulb is in the main headlight unit, not in the indicator lamp, so its two separate problems by the sounds of it.

It may be possible to secure the indicator unit but its difficult to say without seeing why its loose.

Definitely two separate problems as the side lamps are on the passenger side while the loose indicator unit is on the driver side.

Is replacing the sidelamp bulb a possible diy job?

Bulbs are always(supposedly) designed to be changed by the driver. They are very easy to change on the almera. You'll see the location of the bulb from the outside of the headlamp and the holder for the bulb is just a twist fit on the rear of the lamp.

The indicator lamps on the phase 1 N16 almera's are either held in with 1 screw or with a spring clip(I can't remember which)
