Usually buy my contacts online - monthlys but I lost one last night and it turned out I had none left. My mistake for not keeping track. Anyway need some for during the week. Specsavers wont sell me any without doing a test. Is there anywhere around will sell me contacts over the counter in Dublin

I tried this. Apparently, it's against the law for them to sell them to you without an up-to-date contact lenses prescription. They'll all say no.

Having said I did manage to sweet talk an optician into giving one or two pairs to cover me for that night. But they were dailies and I think they'd be even more reluctant to do it for monthlies. Certainly you'll get nowhere with the big brand places.

As Mousewar said, it's illegal to sell without an up to date prescription. When was your last test? Most places will offer to ring your last optometrist to get your details

I'd recommend a yearly check on your contact lenses even if you continue to order them online. Just to ensure there are no "silent" problems
