As it is a scale, leaving the top 4 ranks out of the poll would only increased the value of the lower ranks. What you should have done is increase the ceiling of the options so that the 1 that I gave would more accurately represent just how bad that race was.

Awfully boring race. 3 from me. Would be less except for the Hulk pass. Worth a decent drive next year based on that move.

    3/10

Pretty much a waste of time watching it. Tyre babysitting instead of pushing/racing

    Also +1 from me. Only a 3.

Reading the replies and the race thread ... I'm glad I didn't bother trying to get out of bed for this one.

Just watched it there. Had it recorded as was at a wedding until early this morning!

Gave it a 3. Very boring race. They need to change the rules to stop tyre preservation. Even bring in something like whatever fuel you had at the end of qualifying is what you start the race with. Just do something!

They had that before and we all complained about crap racing. To be honest we're pretty lucky to have the racing we have now. On the balance of the last two years we have had considerably more good races than bad and compare that to the ten, fifteen or twenty years before and the same certainly cant be said

whats the story with the interviews on the podium? Looks like a bit of willy waving from sky no?

True, and I agree that we have been more lucky in recent seasons. However, we have been more lucky in the typical 'traditional' races as oppose to the newer circuits which are causing tyre management battles which are just boring.

Friday practise 1 and 2 is now more interesting than races like that.

I agree with you, but at least the cars were racing with race pace back then. This 6-8 seconds a (delta time) lap slower than qually, and who can save the tyres is really dull.

Yeah thats the problem. But on the balance I really like not having refuelling. Look at the amount of times that a team (McLaren midseason) had a poor stop of 5 or 6 seconds and lost a load of time to the cars they were racing and even positions. In the fuelling era this didnt matter because it took 9s to fuel for a two stop stint. The pressure on the guys in the pits is immense now and races can be won or lost by the mechanics-which most certainly wasnt he case before.

Pretty dire race. Best thing about it was Alonso's now customary shaking of the fists at backmarkers who are literally driving on the grass to let him through. Love it and long may the fist shaking continue........

Dozed through most of it, but what I saw was pretty woeful.

You pretty much know these days on a Friday if Vettel and Red Bull are on it, you're in for a snooze fest. The guy has talent, but his thing is being able to lead from lights (or at least the second corner) to flag. His victories nearly always come in the most boring of races. It's probably why he's unable to shake the tag of not being able to race/overtake, which he's proved he can.

Do you prefer the mechanics being so important?
The only tyres/no fueling means that pitting a lap early is a good thing so going quick earlier isn't punished.

It's not a case of prefering to see the mechanics playing a bigger role I just think it emphasses the "team game" mentality of the sport far more than what we had in the past/

In the old era of fuelling it was advantagous to stay out a lap later...was that really all that different and better than what we have now?

Its a much of muchness between them and I know that when you look at the timing screen and see cars 6 seconds off the pace it's not impressive but when you're watching from the circuit the cars are still spectacular and you genuinely wouldnt notice the speed difference. Maybe that is clouding my opinion as well but right from when the changes were made I wanted to see that the limitation in a pitstop, and therefore strategy etc., was falling on people and their ability to work under pressure

    Alonso fist shaking.

I always love how commentators give out when they see this. Alonso could nearly get out of the car and punch another driver without losing any concentration.

But then I enjoy seeing the drivers subtlety paying back those that messed up their flying laps.

Aye but now there's no benefit to looking after tyres a bit more or carrying extra fuel.
