Or forget "crippled" Combos. For UK TV without a sub you can't beat a Freesat HD PVR.

When a Saorview PVR is out (shortly) a two box solution will be superior.

A triple tuner box will fall short on UK EPG, none are 100% Saorview or Freesat compatible and when the 2nd mux starts (probably Q1 or Q2 of 2013) you'll need either a quad tuner or two box solution.

Why would the second mux require a two box Saorview/Freesat solution? The second mux is really a second channel of extra Saorview programming isn't it? When the second mux has been fired up the only material difference I can see is extra channels being made available through the Saorview route.

Two box "solutions" aren't ideal at all - too much fiddling with too many remotes for my liking. And try explaining to a seventy plus year old why they can't now just use one remote to switch between Irish and UK channels.

My parents have a combo box and like it. I retune it when necessary. I wouldn't have a combo box since I use a HTPC and get everything in one place, and can pipe TV around my network, both Wireless and on my Homeplug circuit. Can even get streaming onto my iphone....

I guess 'cos a standard combi only has one DTT tuner. Take Maghera my DTT transmitter.
Mux 1 Maghera is Ch 48
Mux 2 Maghera is Ch 55

So if I'm watching Ch48 programmes but want to record Ch55 programmes I can't unless the box has twin tuners. Or at least that's my understanding.

Yes this correct. It may not bother people who just want to watch TV rather than record everything.
