Connecting Freesat Box to Sky Dish

I'm looking to get a Freesat Box connected to a sky dish for a bedroom.

I've been told the dish has the facility for up to four rooms.

Just wondering it is DIY-able? How do I connect the cable to the dish, and what cable is best to buy? I know how to connect to freesat box.

    Thanks.

Its a standard F connector fitting as on any sat box and LNB, I assuming you have not done this sort of thing before, so if there's a dish there is presumably a hole for the cables already drilled somewhere. Obviously you'll need to roughly estimate the length needed, standard issue coax cable is about 50c a metre, the posher stuff about 1 euro a metre.

Its perfectly DIY able if you can reach the dish :)

    Thanks Mike.

I can see the connector lnb on the dish from the outside with 3 spare slots. It's basically going straight to an attic conversion, and I can see where the existing sky lead is going out through the chimney.

So do you think this would do. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/50M-Satellite-Television-Aerial-Coax-Cable-RG6-Black-/200598889706?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item2eb4a024ea#ht_641wt_906

    With F connectors.http://www.ebay.ie/itm/10-Pack-F-Connectors-Twist-F-Plug-RG6-Satellite-Cable-freesat-/251052107701?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item3a73df27b5#ht_786wt_1037

Yep looks fine, some might say get a more expensive cable for over a certain length (about 20 metres) but I've got standard RG6 coax running 30m+ and its fine. That cable deal comes with two F connectors thrown in.

what Freesat box do you have/will you get?

Will chance that then, my run will be about the same.

Didn't see that. Saves me a few quid. :)

I just got the Ferguson Ariva 150 Combo (€100) in the living room to replace sky and it's great, so will be getting another for the bedroom.

^Got that cable. Do I need to do some waterproofing at that LNB side?

If its one of the Sky Quad LNB's ie one of these

After you connect to one of the LNB ports you may notice that it has grooves either side of the LNB casing. You simply pull downwards on the grooves either side (finger and thumb job) and it releases the retractable plastic cover. A lot of people miss this feature.

Thank again STB. It is indeed the one with the pull down cover..

Now just trying to get the courage to go up on the roof. lol

    Octo L.N.Bs are also available.

So you could have 8 Freesat reveivers, 4 Freesat PVRs, or any combination in between.

Th picture on this page shows a standard 40mm LNB but the principle is the same:
