hi guys, can anyone with 1.4tdci and formidable please tell me if they get a reading on fuel temp sensor? Mine shows 0 all the time. I have pluged out the sensor and I get DTC flagged? I have disconnected the sensor and tested on bench with neddle type meter and resistance does change slighty with temp but i don't know how to test any better?
Just wondering is my sensor faulty and what would 0 celcius mean to the fueling of my car (would ecu over fuel to compensate)?
    Should I buy new sensor?
    Thanks guys.

Sounds like a default value the ECU uses when the sensor is bust.

that is what i was thinking. But would it have any impact on the cars running ? Currently car smokes a lot when floored!

I would say so. Diesels runnyness and pressurre increase the warmer it gets so it might be over fueling to compensate for cold diesel thats not actually cold.

Those engines can get very smokey if used for a lot of stop / start driving. Early cars with those engines are not fully OBD compliant so getting all or accurate fault codes is not guaranteed unless using main dealer kit.

If the engine pulls well under WOT, take it out and give it an "Italian tune up". I cured an NCT failure that was off the scale with smoke and got it in at 2.1 when retested. ;)

Also, I'm almost certain that the reading you are seeing for fuel temp is a default, and if used, it's only used to trigger fuel heating (to stop waxing) rather than used to control fueling or alter any of the engines other running variables.
