    Hi

I recently updated Mozilla Firefox to the latest version(don't ask me what itt's called - it did it automatically), and, since then, each time I search for something there, it redirects me to a search engine called Ask.com. Also, this new version of Mozilla is preventing me from searching for a load of stuff on the net...........when it redirects to Ask.com, it more often than not comes back telling me that the page doesn't exist?????

    Any suggestions?

Not too sure but apparently the latest Firefox is full of security holes, maybe it has something to do with this?

How do you bypass all this crap then?

Nothing to do with Firefox, when installing software make sure to uncheck toolbar installation as that is how the Ask stuff is generally installed. Try this and see if it sorts it

    Thanks Nick.

EDIT: I already have Norton AntiVirus on my laptop. It came with it.

2nd EDIT. I installed AVG and it seems to have installed yet another toolbar???

Am still getting redirected to that Ask.com site after I search for something on Mozilla??

Uninstall Norton and AVG. Download MSE instead. You should only ever have one anti virus installed. To sort your Firefox profile out, please see here:
Open the about:config page via the location bar
Type in the Filter bar: mstone
Right-click the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone line and select: Reset
    Close and restart Firefox

Always do a custom install and read what it's offering. AVG gives the option not to install the toolbar, as do most other programs.

Turn Firefox on-tools-addons-extensions. Follow this trail and remove any and all toolbars you see. E.g ask,avg etc. Also check in "plugins" while there to make sure nothing is lurking their.

Cheers, I've done that. Ask.com is gone now.

One more thing: When I originally had Firefox running, I was able to see different tabs(?) along the top of the screen(such as Tools, Menu etc), but these seem to have also disappeared...? How can I get these back also?

Right click near the top of the page and a drop down menu should appear. You'll see Menu bar, navigation bar, bookmarks toolbar. To get back what you need you need a tick mark beside menu bar

Thanks. I thought that was going to be the last question, but, alas, it's not :o:

I want to create a shortcut on my desktop for Mozilla. I am currently opening it by going to the start menu, where it is located.

In the start menu right click the file and click open file location. In the file you see the firefox icon. Its type is application. Right click that and click create shortcut. It'll either tell you "cannot create shortcut here, move to desktop" if that appears click yes. If not and it creates the shortcut in the file left click it and drag it to the desktop.

Not allowing me to do that? Am I missing something?

When I right-click on it, I am given the following options:

    Open
    Run as administrator
    Pin To Task Bar
    Pin To Start menu
    Remove From This List
    Properties

On the start menu, left click on it. Holding the mouse button down, drag it onto the desktop.
Release it, and it should ask if you want to create a shortcut here. Or it will just create it.
