That's what people said about Grimm... Who knows, it might work...

Had the uber-talented Bryan Fuller behind it, so I'll definitely give it a chance..

It's a long way from dead. The Network is still trying to retool the show to work and atm it's a case of Fuller and NBC having different ideas of where the show is going to go. Fuller is occupied with Hannibal and as such expect another show runner to come on and run the show.

Has this aired officially yet? Seems a bit mad to write it off before it's even out there. I just googled and see it's out Oct 26. I want it to be good !

    Another promo here; http://www.spoilertv.com/2012/10/mockingbird-lane-season-1-2-sneak-peeks.html

I think we've seen all this type of genre before, and for something that cost $10 million the CGI looks shockingly bad!

Reviews thus far are rather excellent with most going so far as to say that it has real potential and could easily grow into a brilliant show with long term appeal. As for the effets work it looks rather bloody good and people really need to understand that 10 million does not buy a whole lot especially when only a small percentage of the overall budget goes on the effects work. I think it looks rather bloody good and has a certain rustic charm that's highly reminiscent of the original show.

Definately watching this pilot tonight, i think it's 60 mins....i so guess 90 mins with adds.
It looks like a tv version of Adam's Family Values...it could be good fun but i'm not sold on the casting choices, we'll see.

Be very interesting to see how it does in the ratings.

I hated the Munsters but loved Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me.
    Hmmm...

You do realise that there is TV version of Adams Family Values, it's called the Adams Family.

Never been a fan of The Munsters but the trailers for this were good and the talent involved is interesting enough to warrant and hour of my time.

Awesome!.... :D jaysus, that was some wickedly DARK stuff

Adams Family meets Pushing Daisies.....one of the darkest network shows i have seen in years! , it was pretty gruesome too!, with the open chests, hearts, sucking blood, bear attacks.

Very dark humour as well, i liked it...i liked it alot :) , Izzard is terrific and Marilyn was hot as hell!, the sets and production design were superb and super expensive!

You can see most of the cash went into the sets, the CGI was sub par imo...it looked rather rushed, but the open chest and heart looked good as did the dragon at the end.

Twas a bit strange at 39 mins....... , you wonder if they chopped out some footage or didnt film ceratin scenes. Tbh i'd prefer this on FX or cable as they could go gurther and get even darker.

The music was great as well, overall an impressive pilot well worth a look....it's very, different :)

    Don't know.. it was OK.

Izzard was great but as a whole, it left me a bit unimpressed.

Be very interesting to see how it does in the ratings.

It scored a 1.5 which is good for a Friday, but not enough imo to greenlit a series, it's too dark and too expensive for network. Especially if it airs on a Friday, the cost per ep. would be too high and NBC would not get the add revenue back.

And considering the much cheaper Grimm scored an excellent 1.9 it's rather clear which shows gets more episodes.

NBC to pass on this series and make this a feature once off!

Series is dead before it even started!

Shows still not dead. They want to recoup their investment and as such they will either shoot additional material in order to get the runtime up so as to be able to sell the pilot internationally as a TV movie or else see if any other network wants the show.

Just after watching the pilot and really enjoyed it. It was a rather delightful and fun spin on some of the classic monsters and the light tone really worked. Would hate to see the show go to series and be retooled to be "darker" and/or "more adult". Far too many people mistake adult television for profanity, nudity and blood and goods. Mockingbird Lane was adult but something that most of the family could enjoy.

Really can't see how anyone could call the CGI cheap or poor. For the most part it was excellent and had a certain rustic charm that helped set the tone. Sure it's not up there with Avatar but by TV standards it was bloody excellent. It's nice to see a show where pretty much every penny was onscreen and it would be a shame if the show was not picked up considering that the sets are built, costumes are done and after that initial investment I doubt the cost per episode would be anything extraordinary. I know that traditionally Friday night is the night that shows go to die but if NBC were to couple this with something half decent then they could own Friday nights. This is a show that families would sit down and watch together, it's intelligent, well made and there was more heart, wit and charm in it's 39 minutes than Grimm has managed in nearly two seasons.

Shame nothing ever came of the pilot!
    Such a waste!
    Like herman-dead!

Agreed. I thought the show rocked and i was a bit Pushing Daisies fan so that also helped. It's ironic that NBC are bombing in the ratings yet they pass on something that's genuinely good. I like Grimm but it plods along I think and is nowhere near being half as entertaining as the hour of TV I saw when I watched Mockingbird Lane.
