as a martial artist of some 25 plus years and having trained in a number or styles and competed in numerous events which included light semi and full contact and thai boxing (all stand up) i can only describe what i see in mma as human cock fighting it is more common to see blood drawn with serious cuts than in any other form of martial arts. dont get me wrong all forms of contact sport come with risk but surley there are safer ways.
i will agree that mma is as close to street survival as u will find in any art form of martial art but wht should the competive side of mma be represented as a blood sport.
mma is relitivly new the long term effects arnt known yet, however boxing in competive form is not new we know of the long term effects of boxing.

boxing was regulated for sayety and there are still serious enjurys and even deaths in the sport. why are not the same safe guards in mma .. yes ive heard the argument that the light padding on the gloves means that less repetive punishment is dished out as both parties experience discomfort from the strike what about knee strikes elbow strikes and locks..

.all serious martial artists train to go beyond pain so again were are the safe guards there arnt any end result is mma compeditors damage each other so crowds can enjoy human cock fighting

So a sport that is basically muay thai standing and has grappling in it which makes it more soft than thai is human cock fighting?

    Get a grip man, it's 2012 not 1992

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. Luckily we live in a free country so nobody is going to force you to either watch it or practise it, so you can leave the people who enjoy the sport to continue doing what they love.

You say serious cuts but in reality you'd still be left sitting in A&E for 8hrs with the vast majority of injuries you see in MMA, so they are hardly that serious. They arn't life threatening so its a bit dramatic to equate it to a 'sport' where one combatant dies.
Sure there is a bit of blood and you might get a few scars but I literally have more scars from rollerblading than from 6 years of Martial arts.

Good job you weren't around during the Roman empire. MMA fighters are at the extreme end of combat sports and fair play to them. They're all adults making an informed decision based on their own preferred goals in life.

You say "i will agree that mma is as close to street survival as u will find in any art" well then if your ultimate goal is defend yourself, why don't you train MMA? I think your post may be spurned on by an intimidation felt by you from MMA.

I find the idea of human cocks fighting, deeply disturbing.

I think that Xarm MMA crowd have a spin off with this as it's central theme! :D

On topic, MMA is a physically tough sport where technique, tactics and discipline triumph. Is that not the epitome of martial arts?

I blame "video nasties" and computer games! :D

OP should probably give Joe Duffy a call - you know people have died and it's even banned in America?

 Just Googled human cock fighting. My poor eyes!

Always viewed Muay Thai as the rougher of the two, so don't understand where you're going with that.

MMA or any Martial art won't be to everyones liking,
As long as people don't use their dislike of it to hinder its progression, like in some American states, and some Senators etc, i don't care what they think. But i can't stand rubbishing a sport as barbaric just because that person doesn't understand the skill involved
