Hi there, I have a Technisat Freesat HD box and a Alba B660 Saorview box. When I use the the Saorview remote to turn on the Saorview box it also turns on the Freesat box and vice versa, when I turn on the Freesat box with it's remote it turns on the Saorview, also happens when I switch either one of them off. This is now my second Saorview box because the first one had the same problem which was a Akura Saorview box. What is the problem and why is it happening and also how do I fix this. Thanks for reading :-)

You are using remotes tuned to the same frequencies ...which happens. Face one in a different direction by 45 degrees from the other and see if that works..obviously you will have to wave your hand out when you want to control a box.

Tried that man and still the same. It's a pain in the hole, any other way of getting around it? How did I get 3 boxes that use the same frequencie ha ha what are the odds?

That idea needs 4 scraps of polarisers on the windows and LEDs to work

    How do I do that?

It might be simpler to put a book etc in front of one, or black tape and cover the sensor. If you do it right and turn the boxes as suggested you may be able to aim at one and not get the other.

You could put a tube like a toilet roll to block the sensor except from certain directions. Just ask blue peter how.

Because all the products you bought are made by the same company - Vestel in Turkey!

What Watty is proposing is not a real proposition. You will have to polarise both the remotes and the units so that when they are line up that that is the only position that the IR can pass to the device.

Only other thing I can think of is to get a learning remote and program certain buttons to do certain things for each device - you would have to limit the keys and might be confusing!

What about a Triax Saorview box? Is that made by Vestel? I dont mind getting another box because I can just return this one. Just don't want to go get a 3rd box and the same thing happens. By the way thanks for the info guys.

The technisat can be configured to use a different remote frequency from its own remote - You can see 2 options down at the bottom of the Technisat remote - Holding down OK and pressing SAT2 will switch the technisat remote over to a different frequency - BUT YOU MUST FIRST CHANGE IT WITHIN the TECHNISAT'S ON-SCREEN MENU

I am out of the house at the moment but i think its in settings and advance settings - Its a simple drop down menu - change from SAT1 to SAT2 - Then do it on the remote and bobs your uncle - no clash! Post again if your in difficulty finding the menu - I should be home later!

NO NEED TO BUY A NEW BOX!

old calculators will usually have a small piece of polaroid - cut it into 4 pieces one for each box and remote and glue them in place - you'll see which way a pair of them goes dark when crossed ( not sure if newer ones use separate piece, try out a pound shop one ?)

if the controls are the exact same you can just use one and rotate it (used to do this with old analog satellite boxes)

if you have a pair of 3D glasses from cinema then use Left lens for one remote and box and the right for the other - look at your self in a mirror, try closing one eye at a time to see the effect.

I suggest you connect a USb device to each and see which one is best - one might not record or play certain media files etc. They are all the same chassis, but the software may be slightly better on one.

if they are the same box check the software versions eg: V.8.5 2011-05-3 to see if there is any difference there, they should update over the air

BTW The vision VST8010 ( powercity ) is the same as the Aldi one

would be nice if there was a cross reference of who rebadged what
