Too old to compete in kickboxing?

Hey everyone. I've been considering taking up kick boxing and eventually competing in some of the amateu organised fights. I'm living in the Lucan area and there's a place not too far away that trains but was wondering what are my chances of actually getting good enough to compete with any chance of success?

I'm 24 and have been lifting weights for a while but am no way bulky. Always been fairly fit. Just wondering if I'm a bit too old to get anywhere with this idea?

Mate I am 29 and just started sanshou (Chinese kickboxing) and sambo. I say go for it I haven't regretted it!! I wish I could go back and start at 24. I believe ghandi once said "Roll the dice brother you have nothing to lose" citation needed but I am pretty sure he said it.

Just speaking to man a few days ago who started judo at roughly same time I did

He was in his late 40s when he began. Got his black belt in his late 50s and is still competing in the masters sections

24? i was expecting late 50s at least. and even then my answer would be the same, Never too old. train properly and age won't come into it.

no at 24 you are still quiet young full contact up 35 is common with some going into there 40s depending on abality and injury history .. there are 3 main groups in kickboxing light semi and full contact .. light and full complement each other in that same range of techs is used. semi is point fighting with a lot of stop and start. find one that suits you

there are plenty of clubs in dublin and the surounding area dont be afraid to try a few before you commit to a club (instructors differ students get hurt)

24! you still plenty of time to get into it! definitely give it a shot.
myself and few friend took it up in our late 20's/early 30's, and have entered a couple of competitions.

on a side note, a couple of people I train with are in the 40's and 50's, would put some young lads to shame. they put their great physical condition down to training, they don't really look their age either.
