Was at World super bike in France over the weekend.

    I brought my 1000d , kit 18-55 and my 35mm f2. Its what I have.

My brother brought his lumix super zoom bridge.

His camera took better photos of the action . He got right in there , then later on he took great pics of landscapes and people.

His camera did it all and was nice and small.

To get what he got I would have needed a bag and about 2k euros worth of gear.

I do get great photos in the right conditions , but I cant be bothered anymore with the expense and carrying of stuff.

Its all for sale on adverts with the hope of getting a good secondhand super zoom bridge camera. http://www.adverts.ie/lenses/canon-35mm-f2/2181883

I was thinking of the Nikon Coolpix P510 or maybe with a bit of bargain hunting, a fugi film x-s1

What would be your advise and what should I look out for?

    Thanks

Your camera is capable of taking great pictures, your 18-55 kit lens is a pile of ****e though. I honestly wouldnt let that put you off DSLR's. Just get rid of that awful lens and buy a better one, you wont even have to spend huge money on one. Surely that makes more sense then downgrading your camera and limiting yourself to one fixed lens.

The Tamron 17-50 f2.8 can be bought quite cheap nowadays. Get the NON VC one. Its sharper.

Researching like mad over the last few days.

Love my camera but just cant afford to spend the money on glass.

Going to try the Fugi x-s1

looks like a better camera than my own in nearly everything.

I dont think it will be a down grade.

Depends on what the OP is using his kit lens for. I have known people to take even better photos than me, in even conditions that are really hard to take photos i.e. low light situations

I found this straight forward comparison site .

    http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon_EOS_1000D-vs-Fujifilm-HS30-EXR

Sensor size seems to be the disadvange of a decent superzoom over a crop dslr.
