How many do you play a year. For the last 3 years according to golf net I have played.
    2010 21
    2011 36
2012 29 to date. Plus I played 6 singles rounds in the Atlantic coast and the Coasts of Downs that are not GUI.
I would also play at least 5 or 6 team comps along with inter club comps and club match plays.
I was trying to think after the Island last week when was my last game that was not in a comp of some sort and i couldn't remember, I think i played one other friendly game this year.
So what % of golf do you play Comps V's friendly rounds.

    2010 - 5
    2011 - 15
    2012 - 10

I probably play about 50/50 comp / casual and there would be a few team events that are not included in that. The handicap started at 16 in 2010 and is still at 16.

    I'd love to play more!

    2010 - 37 (7 Away)
    2011 - 36 (3 Away)
    2012 - 30 (5 Away)

Throw in maybe 4 other rounds per year which would be team events, fourballs or casual golf. I'd say I've played only 2 casual rounds in the past 2 years. As you can see most of my efforts go into playing singles counting competitions.

Acually, I played about 5 interclub matches & another 10 club matches on top of that. No wonder my wife hates golf.

    2010 14
    2011 7
    2012 9

would love to play more, but two kids under 4! I'd probably play 25 times a year, just cant get out for competitive rounds every weekend.

Yes! Thankfully I have a flexible working arrangement & I don't really go out socialising much aside from the 4 hours it takes for a round of golf with my mates - married with a small child too but clearly I spend too much time and money on golf. That's my vice.

Same as on average 25 rounds a year if lucky. A 3yr old and 1yr old, wife says remember when they hit the teens they won't what to be seen with us.
Hopefully I'll have 2 golfers to keep me company! They can carry their old man!
If I think of it I'm out every second week so can't complain. Its 50/50 between comps and friendly games.
Strange this year only played 6 games that were actually qualifing.

    2010 : 22 (15 away)

    2010: 25 (2 away)
    2011: 48 (11 away)
    2012: 32 (10 away)

This year is the first time I've kept track of actual rounds played. To date that amounts to 121.
So I've played 25% competitive singles comps. However, the vast majority of the remainder have been related to inter-club competitions (Bruen and Junior Cup) or club matchplay comps. Last year probably would have been more.

I'm jealous almost 3 rounds a week. I have played around another 15 rounds all match plays or inter club plus 5/6 non qualifying early in the year so around 60 something for the year which is good see as though i have 2 kids under 3. Flex time at work is great along with getting out early at the weekend.

I'm ashamed to put mine up here.
Most of my rounds are society or casual with a mate.

Yeah, definitely lucky. Looked at more closely its even more condensed as there's not much golf in Jan/Feb. March to Sept is my season really. That was March (15), April (18), May (20), June (16), July (15), Aug (18), Sept (10). Overall, nearly every second day for the period. Back to once a week now. Have a 4 year old but my wife is a saint and I live 200 yards from the first tee ... that helps!!!

    In my home club:

    2010 - 11 qualifying (3 non qualifying)
    2011 - 11 qualifying (8 non qualifying)
    2012 - 13 qualifying (9 non quaifying)

Hadn't really realised how few qualifying rounds I am getting in each year. Bad weather hasn't helped much this year, I've played most weeks I can, but there was just too much of the year spent playing in winter condititons.

Think I'll have to cut down on the society golf as its eating away too many weekends that could be spent working on the handicap.

Plus working in town doesn't really let me get out for any of the mid-week comps during the Summer

    2010 - 0 + 5 Society Outings
    2011 - 26 (12 away) + 6 Society Outings
    2012 - 40 (24 away) + 6 Society Outings

No team competitions but in addition to the above there was 6 matchplay competitions in 2012.
Since joining a club in 2011 I think I've only played 4 casual rounds, casual golf just doesn't do anything for me anymore. Although the society outings are technically casual rounds they're still competitive with a token prize at stake and more importantly a place on the GOY leaderboard.
Really enjoy the competitions and the added bit of pressure and concentration they bring, especially stroke play competitions such as in scratch cups, played a good few of those this year which are great for playing new courses and offer unrivaled value.

2010: No qualifying comp's and about 15 friendly rounds
2011: 8 qualifying and approx 30 friendly rounds
2012: 10 qualifying(would have been more only for injuries and getting married) & approx 40 friendly rounds

I plan to play more comp's than friendly rounds next year.

    2010 - 32 qualifying, 4 non-qualifying, 7 society
    2011 - 33 qualifying, 7 non-qualifying, 8 society
    2012 - 36 qualifying, 4 non-qualifying, 8 society

And she still hasn't left me...

Funny I've found the same thing. I find it hard to truly concentrate outside of a comp. When I started playing I was bricking it when first starting to play comps and now they are all that float my boat...funny ol game :D
