Planning quick visit

Hi, I'm planning our first visit to Ireland (Falcarragh) around October 2013 - my ancestoral area (Ferry's). A couple of questions:
Will it be a problem taking a rental car (Hertz) into Northern Ireland, the +1 wants to visit Belfast for some street photography.
Also is there a (chain) hotel within reasonable driving distance to Falcarragh (<1hr).
And does anyone know a surf spot that is right in front of an old castle.
Thanks (and apologies if I am in the wrong forum).

There's no problem taking a hire car between the two jurisdictions but you'll probably incur extra charges if you're planning to pick it up in the Republic and drop it off in Northern Ireland.
There's a Radisson in Letterkenny about forty-five minutes from Falcarragh.

hi, I think the surf spot you mean is Mullaghmore which is a few miles south of Donegal in Sligo. The nearest chain hotel I can think of would be the ramada hotel in Letterkenny, which is about an hour from Falcaragh. I think you can drive in the north but there is an extra fee. You cant take the car over to the uk on the ferry though. You'd be best asking Hertz about their policy.
Hope you have a good stay, the weather has been good this last couple of days
