Just did a quick scan through the first 10 pages of threads on here, and couldn't find a suitable thread. However, apologies in advance if this is a repeat topic (I'm sure I'll be told soon enough!). Has anyone upgraded their 'regular' HD box to the 2TB version? If so, what sort of cost are you looking at? Also, I presume you lose any recorded programmes in your planner, yes?

It's €149 online. Presumably with 12 month contract. Yes, you will lose the recordings from the other box - unless you set it up with multiroom, and move it within your house.

Thanks for the reply. For that price, I think I'll give it a miss.

I thought it was quite reasonable considering you will own it, and a 2TB hard drive will cost close to €100 alone.

Brand new ones are on sale on adverts for €100.

I taught it was €249 for the 2Tb box but could be wrong...

€49 for new customers, 2tb drive with 1tb for personal use.

So I see thanks Zerks can never keep up with Sky changing their prices every second day...but I also notice its only for people who take the Hd pack that get the box so cheaply...

Yeah, the extra storage is essential for anyone recording HD content,it eats up disk space.
Usually anyone with Sky for a good while can wrangle a deal out of them.

    From Sky's website
Sky+HD 2TB box: €49 for existing Sky TV customers taking their first HD package (€15pm) or existing Sky+HD customers adding Sky Multiroom (€15pm per box). Existing Sky+HD customers are entitled to one €149 box, additional 2TB boxes €249. New customers joining Sky TV with the HD Pack are entitled to one €149 box. Any additional 2TB boxes thereafter or when taking without the HD Pack are €249. Standard set-up £30 for new customers and €60 for existing Sky TV customers. Non-standard set-up may cost extra. Sky+HD 2TB box provides 1.5TB of personal storage and 0.5TB of storage for On Demand Showcase content.

If you are an existing customer with the hd pack its €149. I was going to get it but they insist on charging an exta €60 for an "engineer" to come and hook it up.

They can go and fcuk off...

You can ask for the self install option, they send out the box & you install it.As I said in an earlier post, they can be sourced cheaper on adverts.

But are they the 2tb on adverts? I had a look but could only see the 1tb for €100?

Also does anyone know if you can transfer your recordings?

You can transfer recordings , but you need to remove drives and use Copy+

Apologies if this has already been asked, but I'm a Sky+ customer and don't want to upgrade the HD (just yet - the missus would have me killed!). However, I was looking into changing my Sky Box as I want to avail of Sky On Demand - my current Sky+ box does not have an Ethernet port, so I can't avail of it currently.
My question is, can I purchase / use one of these 2Tb boxes when I'm not a HD customer or will they only work with a HD subscription?
    Thanks!

All Sky+ boxes are HD and have been like that for a year or more so you wouldnt have any problems. Just a matter of getting the new box and ringing Sky to have the card paired with it.

And grow a set and get the hd, it's only 15 a month, about 60 hd channels now.

Sorry if these are dumb questions but if somebody could help I'd really appreciate it.
    1) If I have one of the old white sky+ boxes can it be upgraded to 2TB space?
or do I have to get one of the black sky+ hd boxes?
    2) If an upgrade is possible with the old one how is it actually done? Does
an engineer have to come out?
    3) I know if I have to get a new sky+2TB box it's going to be around 250euro
but if the old box can be upgraded then how much do you reckon?

By the way I don't want the hd package just standard channels but
    would love the extra space.
Thanks so much if somebody knows any answers.

I got a 2tb box for free (only had to pay €30 for install) after cancelling my account. If you can go 'Sky-less' for a few weeks its well worth it!

I cancelled & after 30 days the 'come back to Sky' mail started to arrive (half price for 9 months excluding HD). I did not bite & they called me a few days later & i got full Sky World & HD half price for 12 months & a free 2tb box. I told them i gave away my old HD box so got a new one for €49 & had €50 credit applied to my account.

That's a good deal. I left 6 months ago - I was offered a 50% discount on my sub at the time - I turned it down.

In the 6 months nobody from Sky has been in touch - must have lost my address. Wouldn't go back to them anyway.
