hi i just bought a car of a guy that bought it of a guy long story, he said that he had the logbook and was waiting on it to come out to him.

    that was last tuesday 2.10.12.
I have since been on to the tax office by phone and they sent me out a form to get stamped by a garage to get the chassis number. i rang a cop station he told me that i have to get the guy that i got the car off to do this. there is no way that i can tax the car till then.

is this true or can i go to the cop shop and get it done my self.

anyone been through this before. would like your input

    thanks james

You bought a car without a log-book or without even seeing a log-book?

Get him to request a new book (which should be free or minimal cost) and sign it over to you.
