Just back in Ireland for a short holiday, friend in China has asked me to pick up this watch for him http://www.longines.com/watches/heritage-collection/L4.797.4.71.2 . I'm in the Dublin area but can travel up to a couple of hours by car if there's a good deal, would prefer to avoid going north (no insurance on hire car) but can do if savings are significant. Any suggestions on where to buy and approximately how much this will run? I checked fields in the pavillions Swords earlier and they have no stock.
Secondly, and I understand not many people will have experience with this, any hints or tips on processing a VAT refund (I am resident outside Ireland)?

"Hour Passion" in Terminal 2 in Dublin airport stocks Longines I think. If they have it, and could put it away, that would be dead handy. I don't see it in their catalogue, but well worth asking them.

Have you tried any of the other retailers listed on the Longines site?

Google seems to return some useful links on the VAT question. One thread here.

Buying int he north and then seeking a refund for a flight from Dublin airport would, I imagine, cause scratched heads. If it's not available in the airport, ring Swatch group and ask for other retailers and ring around.

I had a good look at the Longines watches in T2 recently and don't recall seeing this one

I'd be very surprised if neither Weir's or Paul Sheeran had one of these in stock - i'd also imagine they do quite a lot of sales to non-residents, so i'd imagine they can fill you in on the whole VAT back thing

No luck in the city unfortunately. Will try duty free either here or France on the way home.
