Just wondering if somebody could tell me if very good sheep fencing is in any way effective at keeping dogs out.
I would like to keep sheep on a farm that I have recently taken over. The boundary all needs to be fenced , if I thought it would work I would go ahead and absorb the cost, otherwise I will stick with cattle fencing.

I was hoping that sheep wire with one strand of electric on top would do the trick, I was also going to keep it approx. 1 metre from ditch to allow hedgecutter to pass behind and reduce the chance of dogs jumping from ditch into the field.

It would definitely improve your chances of keeping them out but not guaranteed

You don't have a chance keeping dogs out of a field with sheep wire unless you go to serious trouble - if they want to get in they will get in. They'll find somewhere to jump in, you could probably achieve some level of security with a small area, but if your talking big area, then i wouldn't be relying on it.

If you came across lads like these you won't have much chance!
