    Hi!

I am planning a cycling trip to the Malaga area of Spain.
    Can you recommend:
    1) A bike shop(s) to rent road bikes.
    2) Routes/areas to concentrate our cycling: we would love quieter roads with mixture of climbs, rolling and flats.
We will be based in La Cala along the coast, quite close to Fuengarola!

    Thanks a million!

Sorry am posting froma phone so cant link. Was based in puerto banus a coouple of years ago and cycled from estepona - Rhonda - Puerto banus and back. Round trip - very, very hilly and deserted roads. Rhonda is a beautiful old town. Overall road conditions were excellent and the scenery is excellent, amazing views of the sea and mountains

As regards hire you could look at http://www.recyclobikeshop.es/ in Malaga.

I hired a Focus Cayo for a few days earlier this Summer. The bike was fine mechanically, but a couple of years old, and maybe a little on the worn side for some tastes. The guy mentioned that they were getting new hire stock for next season, but I guess that they still have the older stuff now. On the other hand the guy in the shop was an English ex-pat, was very helpful and offered advice on routes. Their email address is info at recyclobikeshop.es

I'm just back from 4 days cycling near ronda. I would recommend www.cycleronda.com/ as a great place to rent bikes from. They provided us with multiple routes from Ronda between 80 and 170k. All are hilly. There is no such thing as flat in this region. Roads are great though. Its a pleasure to cycle

Its a few years since I went training there but heres some of the routes we used.
    • North east of Malaga is a great climb ( on the A7000) the Fuente De La Reina great descents and come back in the A45 thru and A7 thru el chaparal above Torremolinos into Benalmadena and back to Fuengirola.
    • Marbella to Ojen to Coin to Alozaina toCasarabonala to Alora(Coffee Stop). Alora back down to pizzara , coin Mijas and Fuengirola.
    • Ojen to coin to Alozaina to El Burgo , across to Ronda then A397 down towards Puerto Banus.
    • A397 up to Ronda then down the A369 and A377 to Manilva back through Estepona and coast road back towards marbella.

Lads, thanks so much for your replies...
We are planning on going the last few days of October: we originally planned on the Canary Islands, but flights r uber expensive with Mid Term break.

Is a bit late in season for Makaga, but i imagine the weather will be okay: nit as warm as Canaries!

I remember the roads around the coast and the main roads are crazy busy am& some Spanish drivers r a bit dangerous, so heading to the hills sounds fab!

    Thanks again!
