    Where you travelling from??

Monaghan might be an option from you - but again - depends on where you're coming from.

    Four Seasons in Carlingford.

I've never actually stayed there but Carlingford is beautiful and has some great pubs & restaurants.

Just go straight there - why would you stop overnight unless you have a particular place you want to go to???

The City Hotel in Derry is very handy and good value. Derry is a great City with plenty of Historic sights and shopping etc and is near to Giants Causway which is must see if you haven't been before.

At this time of the year if you really don't want to go directly to Derry I would recommend Belfast. Straight up the M1 its no distance and you could take a detour and see the wonderful Carlingford on the way, stoppng for lunch in Fitzpatricks. You could take in the Titanic exhibition in the morning and then its a short trip accross on Tuesday.

Ramada Portrush. Take in a visit to the giants causeway while you are there.
You are only an hour from Derry city.

Are people giving thanks to that point because of the hotel or the idea? Either way, it looks like the OP is staying in the Imperial Hotel in Cork.

It has to be Monaghan as it is pretty much half way between the 2 places.

If you want cheap and cheerful in the middle of the town you can't beat the Westenra Arms Hotel Really friendly staff and great food.

If you want a little more luxury (including gym and spa) go to the Hillgrove Hotel

Like their pages on facebook and particularly the Hillgrove offer special deals during the week.

If you do stay in Monaghan, head into the Squealing Pig or An Poc Fada for a drink and if you like Indian food go the Eastern Balti house, one of Ireland's finest restaurants!

The OP does say a hotel along the way so I think he is ok with not going via cork. :pac:
