If you look at the end and the plylon coming down, the wires on the left came very close to some people. Agree with last post, why did he keep the foot down?

Because he was counting that he will eventually come back to the road.
He didn't see anything so couldn't know he is going to hit the pole. Otherwise most likely he would eventually come back to the road.
