camera and hdmi cable

Hi,

get a new camera the other day and it came with a usb and hdmi cable, the guy in shop said hdmi cable can be used for faster download of photos from camera onto computer.

Connected hdmi cable to camera/computer but no joy, or at least nothing poped up or couldn't see any thing!!!!

Can this be done and if so how?

This is the reason you shouldn't listen to assholes in shops. The hdmi cable is for connecting to a TV. Your laptop has a hdmi output for connecting to a TV also.

I'd take the HDMI cable back to the shop and wrap it round his neck
