Booking a ticket on Irish rail Site and Drumcondra has popped up on the email as the station I should collect the ticket from. I want to collect the ticket from Dublin Heuston, will that be a problem on the day? Do I have to contact irish rail to make the change beforehand?

If you have a reference number then you can collect them from any ticket machine. If not then go to the info desk at Heuston if thats where you are travelling from, and tell them your name and what train you are booked on and they might be able to give you your reference number.

As far as I knwo you can only collect at the station selected at the time of booking, if the above is correct then whats the point in asking for a collection station. If I was you I would call 1850 366 222 on Monday and they will change it and if travling tomorrow I would go to Drumcondra and collect it if possible.

I had a issue about a month ago and I was unable to get a ticket even though I had the referance number. I selected Waterford to collect it but there was a problem with the ticket machine and I had to get a letter from Waterford saying that I booked x service (time, date, address)etc to allow me to travel. Heuston could not issue me with a ticket when I arrived as it was a return service as it wasn't my collection point.

Well mid August I was able to print tickets in a different starion to what was selected. This was a few days before the journey was going to commence.

Why would he make up the story? Clearly under certain circumstances there can be problems. Jamie2K9 did Heuston allow you to travel?

So why are you asked to entre a specific station at time of booking? Its pointless if the above is correct.

Yes after a while the ticket checker who was boarding passengers in Waterford was on the return that evening. They were very helpful in Waterford and they did delay the departure by 13 minutes trying to get me a ticket etc but if it had to leave as the next service would be delayed as both could't run between Waterford-Ballyhale at same time. Needless to say we did arrive in Dublin on time.

Only stations with ticket machines are on the list

Got on to Irish Rail, they say there's no need to do anything, I can collect from Dublin Heuston. Thank you for your answers.

As goingnowhere says, you can collect from any ticket vending machine on the network but not all stations are equipped with vending machines.

Making you choose the station you intend to collect your ticket from is simply a device to prevent people booking with the intention of collecting their tickets from stations that don't have vending machines and subsequently giving IE lots of grief for being unable to collect their tickets.

Selecting the station you'll collect your ticket from does nothing except insert this information into your booking email.

Any station with a TVM ticket machine can issue the tickets you booked just put in the ref number to get the tickets. IF that doesnt work tho contact the number on the booking order to see if someone can help ya out.
