Attending Counselling

    Hi,

I've been having interpersonal issues on both a social and intimate level for all of my life. I have a compassionate doctor who has tried to help me in the past, but for whatever reason I was unable to overcome the problems.

Anyhow, life goes on and I now feel that I would like to try once more to get around this issue as I would get out and enjoy life and what it has to offer.

I'm curious as to what there is out there that might help me along. I have tried counselling - both traditional and CBT. Now in all likelihood my mind was not open to what they were saying and partially I was expecting something like what you would see on the TV shows where there seems to be a miraculous recovery from the brink!

I would like to get some assistance in sorting my life out. The fact that I have left it this long means that I am unable to do anything myself to resolve it. What are my options for getting help?

    Hey there,

PI is an advice forum for issues posters are experiencing in their personal lives to get a range of advice from other posters, we cannot make recommendations for treatment you may require.

What kind of counselling would do you the greatest good is impossible for anyone to say. There are many different kinds available - and many specialise according to the specific issues you are experiencing.

There is a thread on how to find one that best suits your needs HERE which you might find helpful, other than that it's a case of asking your GP for a referral or exploring the options available in your geographic locale.

All the very best OP.
