    Hi.

My Samsung Sky+ HD box freezes at startup. It shows the screen saying my box must be connected to a telephone line etc. and freezes there. Any idea how to solve this? Thanks.

Did you try pressing the back up button when this message appears ? That is a default message.

Or do a force update, think its the same on HD box, unplug it, keep you finger on the back up button and plug it back in. All the lights should light up, then takes about 10 minutes. Worth a go.

I know this as it appears any time the box is powered down. However it won't respond to either the remote or the buttons on the box.

I'll try this if it doesn't work soon. What's the story with replacement boxes from Sky? Mines well out of warranty

Of course they will try to charge you but play hard ball. If you are paying a sub tell em you'll clear off to another provider.

I'm trying a forced update now, hopefully this will solve it, if not I guess I'll try Sky tomorrow.

I tried the forced update and this time it went past the telephone screen to downloading listings but I got a message that "no satellite signal" was received and then it froze again. Now it's back to freezing at the telephone message.

If Sky do play hardball and wont give you a new box and If you are not within the first year, you could cancel and resubscribe with a slightly different name or address to get a new box, works best in the sticks when the postman knows you more than the address, but probably variation on a theme in a town/city.

OK, Thanks all. I finally got it working with a complete forced format. Lost all my recordings but back in action. Thanks again.
