Speed drops

Ok, so I got this weird problem again, that when I reboot my router my speeds are perfect at 10-11mbps on speedtest, but as its up for longer time the speed drops.
Basically what I'm saying.. the longer time the modem is up, the lower speeds I get.
My router System Uptime : 1 day: 16 hours: 57 minutes
and speedtesting only 5mbps, so it basically drops by a double in a day..
I've noticed that it drops like a mb in like 4-5hours.

So this is the test when uptime was 1day: 16hrs

    Rebooted the router

I had the problem before with my other router, and I chatted to someone and they did help me out by doing something.
I tried chatting today, but the lad couldn't help me, and said everything is fine.
I don't see how its fine that I have to reboot my router so often if I want to watch a rented movie or youtube video without it buffering.

By the way, I'm on 24mb NGB and my line is synced at 12mbps.

Please help me with this problem, its quite annoying. :(

Edit: Hmm, seems like its only dropped a mb since the last test about 26 hours ago, but almost a half of upload speed..

I'll try checking later, and see what happens.

    Hi thret,

Have managed to log into your modem remotely today and am in the process of upgrading the firmware. This should resolve the speed drop issue (the new firmware is a fix for a problem with 'IPV6 tunnelling') so this should make it more consistent and prevent the need for reboots. I'm waiting for this change to go through so I can't confirm if it has worked just yet.

While we're here, when logged into the modem I also noticed that your Wifi security is turned off at the moment. This may not be the cause of the problem however we always recommend having at least basic protection on the modem. If you have enabled other security features such as Mac address filtering instead then you should be fine but if the modem is wide open you're probably making yourself the most popular neighbour on the street! It's up to you whether you want to fix this but as I said, always best to have it secure as each Wifi connection made will slow you down that bit more.

Keep an eye on the connection for the rest of the evening an let us know if this has improved the speeds. If the change doesn't go through properly from here I'll let you know and you can try calling tech support to allow them do this for you instead.

    Regards

    James

EDIT: Just after posting, the firmware seems to have been upgraded! Let me know how it goes. Thanks

    Hi James,

Thanks for your effort in this. The speed seem to be fine at the moment, but the router did just reboot itself, so I will be keeping an eye on it for the night.

The Wi-Fi seems to be protected in my router CP, and every time I have been connecting trough my phone or tabloid, I got asked for one.

EDIT: Speed seems to be fixed atm, I`ll try and check tomorrow or later on, but now it looks fine.

EDIT2: Speeds dropped by little. http://www.speedtest.net/result/2229647403.png
P.S. Still want to know if my wi-fi isn't set properly. :)
P.S.S. I seen one of your representatives say my line can hold up to 15mb, but I'm synced at 12mb. Any chance you can pass a request in for sync at 15mbps?
    Regards,

    Kriss

    Hi Kriss,

Apologies I'm only getting to this now, had a bit of a backlog to clear. I've pushed the 15mb profile onto the line so can you keep an eye overnight and let us know how it goes. With regards Wifi, if it asks for a password when connecting a new device then it is more than likely secure enough. It may have been wrong information on my end due to the remote login. Get back to me if the connection becomes unstable this evening. If it becomes really unstable and you need it fixed immediately then you can also call technical support up to 10pm on 1890 260 260 and request they drop it back to 12mb.

    Regards

    James

I noticed the changes. Thanks for that.

Its weird drops, I don't get why.

I mean it doesn't drop by lot, but as I'm on NGB I really do expect stable speed, and for some people in my house it matters, because they are watching some high quality TV and its probably annoying when it buffers.
