    Hey all ,

I am looking for some help. I hold a medical card that is valid until 2014. I have started a new job recently , is it true that holding the medical card will lower your USC ?? Can someone please advise how I go about this please.

    Thanks

If you have a FULL medical card then the rate of USC that you pay is capped at 4%. You should advise the tax office who will send revised USC instructions to your employer for 2012.

Further information (including a PDF file setting out a list of common questions) is available here: http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/usc/index.html

At this stage of the tax year , your earnings are unlikely to pass the 10,036 exemption limit , unless you are earning in excess of €750 p/week approx .

So remember to send claim to tax office in Jan 2013 when you receive P 60.( including a copy of your 2012 medical card )
