    http://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2012/1005/340526-joe-brolly-recovering-after-donating-kidney/
Sunday Game analyst Joe Brolly is recovering in London after donating a kidney to a club-mate from St Brigid’s GAC in Belfast.
Brolly, 42, and 40-year-old Shane Finnegan remain under medical supervision at Guys Hospital after the operation, which took place on Wednesday.
The former Derry star said it was an honour to have helped.
“I’m honoured to have been in the position to help Shane,” Brolly said.

And you thought you were doing your bit driving the U-14s to the game ;)

Not a big fan of Brolly as a pundit but i have to say that donating a kidney is an incredibly wonderful and decent thing for anyone to do.

He's a good pundit and seemingly a better man. Fair play to the guy.

Just saw this and I think I have found a new found light for him, very very kind man

Not really a big fan of outspoken Derry man but he's gone up in my opinion after reading this. I don't think many would donate an organ to anyone other than close family member. Fair play Joe.

Have to say I cannot warm to him as a pundit, but this is a horse of a very different colour. A million kudos to him.

Being a Kerryman I'm not a fan of Brolly as a pundit, must be a top bloke as a person though fair play to him!

Wish them both a speedy recovery!

    Fair play to him.

I like Brolly, he's not always right, but he has a sense of humour and does know what he's talking about (most of the time). But great gesture.

I read a story where 4 men travelled down from Newry to the All Ireland some weeks back and the driver lost the 4 tickets in the pub and some honest decent individual handed them back. It really restored my faith in humanity. And then i heard this wonderful story today and this absolutely tops it big time.

Alot of negative news in the media of late and then stories like this prop up and warm the heart. Keep em coming :)

Fairly outspoken in my dislike for Brolly's articles and comments, but fair play to him. Top class thing to do. What a lucky clubmate!

Wish them both a quick recovery.

Fair play Joe his stock has gone up in my world.

Thats correct he lost them going into the pub for the replay gave the tickets to a garda who said a northern bloke was looking for them and he went into the pub and gave them back. 4 good tickets too.

Can only echo what others here have said, it's an incredibly kind gesture by Joe Brolly to do that and whether you like him as a pundit or not is irrelevant when set beside this. It's an extraordinay thing to do, to effectively risk your life for a friend. Nothing he says or does on The Sunday Game will ever change that.

I bumped into Joe Brolly in a hotel in London last week. we stopped to chat as we passed in the corridor. He came across as a highly intelligent, articulate and polite individual. Very engaging, despite what he had in store the next day, i thought he was very upbeat and cheerful.

Joe Brolly for president, if you ask me!

Thats very very sad that the transplant failed. It must be awful for the guy received it but also for Joe who has now only one kidney his other health one is now not in use at all.
