The FM option is because some very old TVs did have an FM radio inbuilt. Particularly the ones used in hotels.

It can also be connected into the back of some large HiFi's to improve the FM signal.

There are some radio channels on Saorview but not local ones.

Very old tv sets. I remember when I was (much) younger, if the dial on our b&w tv was turned far enough, the picture would go off and radio channels would play out instead. A long time ago.....

If an amplifier uses the word 'receiver' in the title it will typically have a co-ax input at the rear for an FM radio antenna. In Dublin you can connect the UPC radio feed to this port and you'll get about 20 radio stations, including most of the BBC stations. This allows you to listen to BBC radio without needing both the UPC decoder and the TV switched on.

The port on the back of the amp looks like the 'aerial in' port on a TV and is typically labelled 'FM 75 Ohm' where the 'ohm' is represented by the Greek letter Omega. In the picture below it's the round silver socket in the upper left.....
