sounds like you have it wired wrong. There should be two power feeds, one that is always on, which maintains your settings and the other that powers it when you switch on.

I'm no expert, but one is usually red and the other yellow I think

Check the installatiin manual. Either way, its just a matter of switching two wires.

Really common problem with radio installs.

Often there's bullet connectors on the loom to make this easier.

As above there is always two power feeds to the radio.

One is known as the memory wire. This is the one that gives power to the radio when its off to keep the settings/stations when you remove the key. Its usually the yellow wire.

The other is the ignition feed. This switches on the stereo when you turn the key and turns it off when you remove it. Its usually the red wire.

Different cars can have these in different ports on the wiring adaptor, so usually an aftermarket stereo such as jvc/Sony etc will leave the two feed wires on their units wiring loom that they can be swapped over, usually with bullet connectors as colm said.

Apparently nearly all Opel/Vauxhall cars are made with wires reversed, it's common problem, I had to swap wires for my corsa as well when installing radio.

A lot of these factory stereos have the amp built into them where as the aftermarket ones don't. You may need to buy a signal booster. Not very expencive, maybe 10-20 quid

A technician changed over the Opel radio to a Sony radio on a Opel Astra 07 and the radio reception was fine. One of the reasons to change radio was for LW so good reception was important.

Might just be a loose connection.

Tell us how it all turns out.
