Final year law, internships and the future.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm only new to this site.
I am in my 3rd and final year of a Law Degree. It is now the time to be thinking of what to do next year etc etc.

The applications are now open for traineeships and internships, I have a few questions which I am hoping some of you may be able to help.

I would love an internship for the summer and would love to be offered a traineeship at the end of it, but I do not think my grades are up to scratch.

I always do well in assignments but suffer at exam time so I feel it would not even be worth my while in applying for anything of the sort.

Do you know if they look for a minimum standard? I do feel I would do well if I were to get an internship, but I don't have anything that stands out to put on my CV.
I'm not involved in extra curricular activities and am not involved in anything to do with Law outside college.

I understand now I should have applied myself more in 1st year to extra curricular stuff but no time to dwell on the past.
Am I right in saying there is no hope for me to get an internship?
    Thanks for any replies:confused:

Apply for every traineeship and internship you see advertised. Most big firms do not place massive emphasis on grades (provided of course you haven't been failing more than passing....) and are much more interested in whether you seem like you would fit in well in the firm etc.

In the applications try to highlight things that make you stand out and seem interesting and might make it worthwhile for them to call you to interview. Some of the big firms could get 700 or 800 applications and often it's partners who have to read through applications and decide who to call for interview, so you want to make your application stand out from the other bundle of applications from law graduates they are looking at.

Also it's not too late to try and bulk up your cv with extras now, as you'll see on other threads here it can sometimes take a few bites of the cherry to get a traineeship so start looking for something outside of your degree to make yourself a more marketable applicant.
