No more help from me I'm afraid unlike your last thread where your outright lie in your first post caused me to reply. Much like how you lie to the people who buy cars "privately" from you I'd imagine. I hope your black market venture meets the end it deserves.

Head gasket problems are the biggest problems I think with Astra's of that age. I sold a 02 for a grand this time last year after having all sorts of trouble with it. Probably could of got slightly more but wasn't worth the hassle. Just wanted it gone.

Looking at prices on donedeal it'd want to be imacculate to get a grand. You'd do well to look at prices online if your going to start up this enterprise of yours

Your posts in the Micra thread can be summarised as:
    paraphrase wrote:
I want to sell this car privately how much is it worth?

    paraphrase wrote:
Actually lads I already sold it for €400 profit I just wanted to know how I did

You can call yourself a private seller if you want but that doesn't change the reality of the situation.

Lad if you wanna trade away, least know a rough value... Check similar ones, do a google on common problems etc... Dont rely on boards to tell you what their worth.

Are you literally buying and re-selling or giving it a once over and doing a bit of work?

If you are buying a car to sell on for profit, then you are a car dealer and not private. If you want to get any respect (on here or elsewhere), face up to the fact that you are dealing, advertise openly declaring that you are a dealer, honour your legal responsibilities in terms of warranties, have proper insurance, pay your taxes. If you are doing all that then fair dues to you.

None of the dealers on here have a monopoly on the business, and there is no reason why you shouldn't get in on the act and try to make some few euros for yourself. Where people have a problem is when the dealing is done on the black economy, taking the profits but shirking the responsibilities.

The impression you give is that you are coming on here pumping for information that the rest of us have spent years accumulating via experience (ie mistakes !), but hiding behind the mask of selling privately. And then you challenge George when he up-front says why he will not help you any more ? You shouldn't be surprised. I'd have a lot more out of the car dealing if I didn't have to give warranty or pay vat and tax, but the law demands these actions. And yes, I'm not happy that it's not a level playing field and "black economy" dealers have an unfair competitive advantage.

So I'd agree with George. If a private punter comes on here asking an opinion on a valuation I'm happy to give it (for what it's worth), but I think it's impertinent of you to expect others to do your research for you.

Depends on what you believe from this guy. On one thread he's asking how to find neutral :D and on another he's claiming to be a dealer selling cars privately.

Anyway OP, I started a thread for my own privately owned, privately sold '00 opel astra not so long ago and the ballpark figure was 750-950.

Though you're a dealer, so you might get more.....

Agreed. I'm probably giving this "discussion" far more credibility than it deserves !
