Notification Spam driving me crazy!

    Hi folks,

Just recently started getting spammy notifications with links to all sorts of weird sites.

Unfortunately I just got my Android Phone, and have installed about 50 apps in the last few days, so it's hard to identify what app might be at fault.

I've downloaded software like AirPush Detector, and it hasn't identified anything.

It's driving me crazy, every hour or so I get a new notification, usually along the lines of "boost your battery", "boost your signal" etc.. They link to different web pages with downloads for alleged software or ringtones, which of course, I have not downloaded.

I'm keen to identify the offending software and leave a nice one star comment on the Play Store page, but more importantly just to get rid of these annoying notifications!

    Thanks for any help.

    Try Ad Network Detector.

Read through the reviews of apps you've installed that push ads to your notification bar.
It's a super lame method of advertising that no good developer should ever use.

    sentient_6, cheers for the tip.
Unfortunately, Ad Network Detector didn't find any apps that could "display ads in Android notification bar"...

Genghiz Cohen, I'll read reviews of all the new apps and try to identify what app(s) it might be.

Absolutely horrible stuff, and some of the notifications are very misleading, with fake prizes, warnings, etc..

    Deleted a handful of apps.
I also went onto the AirPush website and put my IMEI into the opt out form.

    Now ... I wait... :D

the detector apps mentioned don't seem to detect sendroid, which is another new ad network in this space.

google could kill this crap in a day by banning this in the app store, it's a disgrace. i'm an apple hater but they wouldn't allow this for a second
